Welcome to my virtual space!
Vernitra’s Notes is a blog where I relish and reflect on reading, writing, learning, creating, and things that uplift, entertain, and inspire me. Here, I capture moments in time and write about my hobbies and everyday life. Whether I’m working my way through my reading list, learning how to play the viola and piano, learning how to sew and quilt, or spending time in nature, I enjoy writing notes and taking snapshots along the way. I also share books, movies, music, and media that captivate me, as well as things relating to Catholic faith.
My favorite form of self-expression is writing—reveling in words, piecing together sentences, trying to tell a story. I blog to express my thoughts, to chronicle memorable moments, and for the pleasure and therapeutic benefits of writing. I enjoy writing notes about various learning journeys. Writing about my progress helps me to savor the process, appreciate small victories, and realize the beauty of the journey.
If my content is of interest to another, I am grateful. I’m glad you stopped by, and I hope you find something you like or can relate to.

I was born in the 1980s and grew up in Houston, Texas. For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed reading, writing, learning, and creating, and I reflect on these things and more on my blog Vernitra’s Notes. I have a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in library science from the University of North Texas. After college I worked as an MTV intern in New York City and briefly as a Hollywood production assistant. I have also worked as an elementary-school teacher in the Houston area and as a public children’s librarian in Houston and New York City. I currently work as a public adult reference and programming librarian in Houston.
In the spring of my senior year in college, I taught myself basic HTML and built my first website from scratch. (And it definitely had that “from scratch” look!) Years later, in 2009, I created my first blog, on the Blogger platform. In 2012, I started blogging on WordPress.com. Throughout the years, my blog has taken on different names and looks, but my content has pretty much remained the same: books, hobbies, and things that entertain and inspire me.
Let’s see, what else can I tell you about myself? I enjoy humor, and I love to laugh. I am a Catholic Christian, and I am grateful for God’s love, grace, and mercy and the love of Jesus Christ. I love writing and expressing my creativity, and one of my favorite pastimes is creating content for this blog.
Thank you for visiting!
