There are few things cozier than the warmth and comfort one finds while nestled underneath a quilt. Besides a quilt’s functionality, its presentation of shapes, colors, and patterns is visually engaging. A homemade quilt can provide a sense of connection to the hands that made it or a feeling of creative satisfaction for the quilter who pieced it together, stitch by stitch.

I believe the process of quilting can be just as cozy as the finished quilt itself. The various stages of quilting, such as choosing a pattern, mulling over fabric options, cutting and arranging pieces, and, of course, stitching, provide opportunities for the kind of quiet, meditative activity that can be quite calming. I want to savor each step as I learn the crafts of hand quilting and machine quilting.
